The Starlite Lounge destined to close
The Starlite Lounge in Crown Heights has been a quiet part of Brooklyn’s gay scene since the early 1970s, but it now seems destined to close its doors, because the new management of its building is demanding that it vacate to make way for urgent repairs. Starlite’s operators call it the “longest black-owned nondiscriminating bar” in Brooklyn’s history.Photo: Piotr Redlinski for The New York Times
