December 17, 2011: What’s the one thing you have come to appreciate most in the past year? How do you express gratitude for it? #resound11
I’ve come to appreciate my resilience. I’ve written before that while I’m a lucky/blessed guy that my life hasn’t been easy (in some respect, no one’s life is). The reason I’ve gotten as far as I have is because I have the ability to stay in the game; to recover from setbacks, depression, adversity, heartbreak, etc. I know how to weather a storm; like a palm tree.
Honestly, I don’t know how I do it. I question myself and my decisions often. Sometimes I have to “hit bottom” before bouncing back. But I do bounce back. Eventually. Every time.

December 15, 2011: What discovery did you make in 2011? What kind of impact did it have on how you view the world today? #resound11
I had to think about this a bit because I didn’t want to get super detailed. It may sound trite, but I’d have to say the most important thing I discovered is I still have the ability to fall in love. It can be easy to forget when you’ve been single for a long time. I’d fooled myself into thinking I was okay about it. Also, I admit I’ve been “luckier” than a lot of people in the love department. It’s quite possible that I’ve used up all of my chances at the L word. I mean, if I haven’t gotten it right by now…
But that isn’t really the way life works. And thank goddess for that.
What I do know is the ability for me to feel butterflies, to have my heart skip when I get a text or call, to be inspired to be a better man, to get… excited by a smile, to want to make plans for the future… No matter how long it lasts, I’m glad I discovered love again.
